Corner Gas is one of Canada's favourite TV shows. CNT Conventions 'N Tours offers popular Sunday tours of the outside and indoor sets until September 14, 2008.

Corner Gas is shooting its last regular season. The Corner Gas Experience Tour is a unique chance to see The Ruby, the gas station, the Dog River Police Station, and other familiar places.

Travel with a Corner Gas Guide to Rouleau, alias Dog River

Aboard a comfortable tourist bus, guests are well entertained by one of the guides, all of whom have worked on the show. Guide Ryan McLeod, a local actor who has been Brent Butt's stand-in since the show started, offers lots of stories and can answer almost any question.

What does Hank do for a living? He's a handyman.

What's it like filming an episode with the Prime Minister of Canada playing himself? Very secure.

Where's the surveillance bush? No one knows.

The drive from Regina to Rouleau passes quickly.

Oscar and Emma's House on the Horizon

Entering Rouleau - the real town that plays Dog River - the bus stops at the Dog River welcome sign. The neat two-story house on the last street in town is where Oscar and Emma Leroy (Eric Peterson and Janet Wright) live. Exterior shots happen all over Rouleau, so the whole town has a familiar feeling.

Main Street of Rouleau, alias Dog River

Rouleau's buildings are privately owned stores, offices, and homes. The Dog River Police Station (an ice cream and souvenir store) is so convincing, there's a sign telling people where to find the real police.

The hotel, however, is a real beverage room and is used for both inside and outside shots. The owners sell Corner Gas souvenirs as a sideline. Paying customers may look around and take pictures of the place where Brent (Brent Butt), Wanda (Nancy Robertson), Lacey (Gabrielle Miller), Hank (Fred Ewanuick), Karen (Tara Spencer-Nairn), Davis (Lorne Cardinal) and the gang drown their sorrows.

The tour stops long enough for a drink and light snack at the hotel (no minors) or one of the cafes. There's plenty of photo opportunities.

Corner Gas and The Ruby

Near Dog River's grain elevator on the highway, the purpose-built Corner Gas station and The Ruby look just like on TV. Tour guests may explore this life-like set close-up and pose for pictures. Actor Ryan McLeod is easily persuaded to do his "Brent Butt from Behind" pose by the gas pumps.

Inside Corner Gas at the Sound Stage

The Corner Gas Experience continues from Rouleau to the Canada Saskatchewan Production Studios in Regina. Josh the cook (actor Josh Strait) hosts a fascinating fun tour of the indoor sets for the police station, Oscar and Emma's house, and The Ruby. Sitting in restaurant booths reading The Ruby's menus, it feels like everyone is a Dog River neighbour and Lacey will be by with a chili cheese dog at any minute.

Josh too is full of wit and stories - unlike the quiet character he plays. Josh needs more lines!
